Professional baseball been played in Asheville since 1897 and almost every year since 1909. In fact, our home field, Lewis McCormick Field, is one of the oldest stadiums in Minor League Baseball. It was built in 1924 and hosted every professional home game since.
Asheville has seen a variety of local teams over the years – Orioles, Moonshiners, and Mountaineers – but it’s been The Asheville Tourists since 1976. Baseball fans staying at Bent Creek Lodge will likely want to see this historic field during their visit. A schedule filled with home games makes catching a game that much easier.
